Upgrading or replacing a motherboard with different chipset in Windows Xp used to be both complicated and simple at the same time, requiring the well known repair install. And computers also fail, requiring replacing parts.

I like to be protected as much as possible, so Windows 10 is the easy choice. Plus.I am of the belief that Windows 7's days are numbered. It is definitely faster than Windows 7 in games and is much better for the type of internet I have. I basically could probably get it to run on Windows 7, but it is so much trouble and tweaking to make it happen, that I am staying with Windows 10. I am on fixed wireless because I live out in the country, and there is no driver for this 'New' type of internet on Windows 7. I did ask for help on it, but unfortunately it is just not possible to do it on my PC because of a weird internet problem in that Windows 7 does not have the drivers for the type of internet I have. Once I got the drivers installed with Windows 7 and booted up to the desktop, I discovered another problem.Windows 7 did not install a network driver that worked and I had no backups of them, so I am back to Windows 10.ДЄre you serious? Why did you not ask for help? I think Microsoft is definitely trying to force everyone to run Windows 10 from my perspective. I gave up and re-installed Windows 10 Pro and shut down a lot of telemetry processes and Cortana and I am pretty happy with Windows 10, now. There are a few drivers for the UEFI Bios that need to be installed before I can even use the mouse and or keyboard. This I know for sure after having tried 4 or 5 times to re-install Win 7. My skylake Motherboard Gigabyte Z170X-UD5 will not natively run Windows 7 Pro. Anyway you look at it, you'll need another motherboard, and with memory prices still in orbit you might want to consider getting a skylake cpu and a 100 series (ddr 4) chipset board. The old Phenom chips still work better than the BullDozers (AMD+3) that came out afterwards, but those are not cheap and they are few and far between. Skylake cpu's run Windows 7, but that's an Intel cpu. Only problem is USB support but that's not big issue Д®ither integrate Windows 7 drives into install media (DVD preferred) or use PS/2 keyboard (even just mouse should be enough too). So just install Windows 7 on your Ryzen system and use it. After that patch, there is no such restriction on any future patches (at least for 3/2018).

Only single Windows 7 update patch (March or April 2017 or whatever) contained that. Someone has come out with a patch to fix that Microsoft update: It's Microshaft that gives you an update to stop you from using Windows 7 with the newer cpu's. The truth is, Windows 7 does run on Ryzen (AMD4) cpu's.
